Dr Shahzad Sarwar holds a Bachelor of Medicine, and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree and completed the Diploma in Child Health through the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. He completed his training at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead before obtaining a fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP). Dr Sarwar's training has included extensive experience in Neonatal Intensive Care, General Paediatrics, Paediatric Neurology, and Developmental & Community Paediatrics. He has worked in various paediatric units in Australia, including tertiary care neonatal units and rural hospitals but has spent most of his time at the Sydney Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. Dr Sarwar is a General Paediatrician who enjoys managing children of all ages, focusing on providing a family-centred holistic approach and collaborating closely with his patient’s families, Allied health professionals, teachers and GPs to provide the best care to his patients. He works with parents to help children reach their full potential again by always considering the whole family’s well-being and supporting them on this journey.
Dr Sarwar has a particular interest in Newborn care (Neonatal medicine). He is experienced in managing a wide range of childhood problems such as asthma, eczema, sleep difficulties, developmental and behavioural concerns, growth concerns, learning difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Behavioural challenges.
